High School Rowing
Overview
For those interested to pursue rowing in college, HRA has previous High School Program participants who have continued rowing at the collegiate level, including for the Univ of Alabama, Cornell U, Drexel U, Embry-Riddle, Florida State, U of Florida, MIT, the US Naval Academy, and more. Like any other varsity sport, this commitment does not mean that every high school participant is trying to row in college, but rather that each participant commits to be a reliable part of the team and looks to improve their rowing capability.
There are two competitive seasons for the HRA High School Program, which align closely with the Volusia County School calendar – the Spring (sprint race) and Fall (head race) seasons. This team competes in 3-5 regular regattas per season and sometimes competes in special or selective regattas as well. These regattas are mostly in Florida, but some require travel to other states. There is a Summer Junior Rowing Program as well, which is focused on training and improvement (see Planned Events page).
Fees
The fees for the HRA High School Program for the (4-month) 2023 Fall Season are $260 per month or $1000 for the season (if paid in the first month). The fees for the (5-month) 2024 Spring season are $260 per month or $1300 (5% discount if paid in the first month).
NOTE: Program fees do not include uniforms, shoes, or gear. Those are purchased separately by each rower.
Schedule
Every week, Mon / Tues / Thur / Fri (4:15-6:00p) and Sat (8:00-10:30a)
